Charity that will benefit from the event:

HALO (Helping Art Liberate Orphans) is both a local and global not-for-profit organization focused on helping at-risk youth find direction and become goal-oriented for a brighter future.  The Center serves as a safe haven with future-focused programming and educational workshops.  The Center in Jefferson City also partners with area homeless shelters, the foster care system, and alternative schools to provide art therapy and life skills to the youth within these agencies.

HALO Jefferson City was started with the goal of funding the Mengo Home in Kampala, Uganda. This home provides food, water, shelter, clothing, education, art therapy, and mentors for 22 girls who once lived on the streets. The children at this home live without fear or worry about where their next meal might come from or where they will sleep that night.

Last year's event had the specific goal to raise enough funds to be able to provide the HALO Center in Jefferson City with a large capacity van so that they would be able to provide transportation to the youth in our community.  We were able to help them meet that goal!

This year we hope to continue to support HALO's efforts to reach out to youth that are living in poverty in our community.
